Guesthouse Diani

AT THE DIANI BEACH - KENIA  |  Deutsch - English

One of the most beautiful beaches in the world

Diani Beach in Kenya is about 30 km south of Mombasa. Together with its neighboring beach Galu Kinondo Beach in the south, Diani Beach forms a stretch of coast of about 25 km, which extends to Chale Island. Diani Beach itself is "only" about 13 km long and ends in the north at an estuary that separates it from Tiwi Beach. The beach can be reached via Diani Beach Road, which runs parallel to the beach. From here the path leads through the parking lots of the hotel resorts and beach restaurants. Alternatively, there are also several footpaths that lead directly to the beach as public access.

Bright white sand beach

Diani Beach is rightly the most well-known beach in Africa and is considered one of the most beautiful beaches in the world: the broad expanse of white sand shines so brightly in the sun that you are quite dazzled without sunglasses. The sea shines in different shades of blue and the water is impressively clear. The background of the beach is a dense green of palm trees, trees and bushes. At low tide the water recedes so far that it is hardly possible to swim in the sea. Rocky plateaus appear, the surface of which is partially sharp-edged. There are many sea urchins, some small moraines and sometimes stone fish, which are very poisonous. Bathing shoes and caution are not only useful here because of sea urchins and the very poisonous stonefish, but a must.

Much cleanliness and space to relax

The Diani Beach as part of the Diani Chale Marine Reserve is under nature protection and therefore the cleanliness of the beach is ensured. Although more and more beach holidaymakers come here year after year, the visitors are well distributed over the large area, so that the beach never really gets crowded even in the main travel season, from November to March. Only on the weekends, on public holidays and in the evenings, when, in addition to holidaymakers, more locals come to the beach than usual, does it get a little crowded in some sections of the beach.

Large diving area with colourful underwater world and many other activities

Diani Beach is a breathtaking diving area with 18 different reefs, all of which have their own special features and where you can see countless colorful fish and a wide variety of sea creatures. There is no shortage of ways to get moving at Diani Beach: in addition to long walks on the beach, there are activities above and below the water. Almost every hotel has a water sports provider whose offers are open to all beach visitors, and the choice is large: Diving courses of all levels can be taken and there are daily diving and snorkeling trips to the reefs.

On land, especially the children have fun riding camels. For adults, there are numerous stalls to browse selling shawls and jewellery. The so-called "Beach Boys" are also represented on Diani Beach and offer their services and products: The spectrum ranges from orders for wood carvings, sometimes very competent, tourist tours to invitations to eat with the family. One should know that despite all friendliness, the financial interest is usually the focus and be prepared to support the people who earn their living in an honest way.
